Reena Devi- Journey to self-reliance

Reena Devi, a resident of Shri Ram Ki Nangal, Vatika, Jaipur, spent years confined to household responsibilities, cooking on a traditional stove, caring for her children, and managing daily chores. The thought of working outside her home never crossed her mind until three years ago when she decided to step beyond her comfort zone and join Nirjhari Women Artisans Company to learn stitching handicrafts. Sewing and embroidery were completely new to her, and at first, the skills seemed difficult to grasp. However, Reena gradually mastered the art of creating beautiful handcrafted items. This journey transformed her life, providing her with financial independence and a newfound sense of confidence. Today, her earnings contribute to her family’s well-being, allowing her to provide better opportunities for her children. More than just a source of income, Nirjhari has been a lifeline, giving her hope and purpose. Her dedication and success have earned her recognition in her community, inspiring other women to follow in her footsteps. One of her proudest achievements has been purchasing a scooter with her hard-earned money—an accomplishment that symbolizes her independence and determination. More than just a mode of transport, the scooter allows her to balance work and family more efficiently, ensuring her children get to school while she continues to grow as an empowered woman. Reena’s journey is a powerful reminder that with the right opportunities and support, women can achieve incredible things.
