Kailashi Devi, a resident of Shree Ram ki Nangal, Vatika, comes from a joint family where women were not allowed to work. Despite this, she always had the desire to become independent. Her journey began when the Nirjhari center opened near her home. She joined, learned handwork and stitching, and gradually became one of the key workers at the center. The location played a big role, as being close to home made it easier for her to attend regularly without facing resistance. Kailashi now also helps in managing the center and inspires other women to follow the same path. Seeing her progress, 11 other women from her area joined Nirjhari and began their own journeys toward self-reliance. Kailashi’s story reflects the power of local opportunities and how access to the right support can transform lives within the community.
