Vimala Devi’s Journey: From Struggles to Self-Reliance

Vimala Devi, a resident of Shree Ram Ji Ka Nangal, a small village near Jaipur, had always lived within financial and social limits, relying solely on her husband’s earnings from welding work. With a young child to care for and endless household responsibilities, stepping beyond her home seemed impossible. But everything changed when she discovered Nirjhari, an initiative by AU Small Finance Bank and PURE India Trust. Determined to break free from financial dependency, she joined the center and learned stitching and embroidery. The training not only gave her skills but also an opportunity to earn. After months of practice, she invested in a sewing machine and started working from home, balancing her role as a mother while earning approximately ₹10,000 a month. Her journey from dependency to self-reliance is proof that with the right support and a strong will, women can create their own identity and build a better future for their families.
